1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Pace Car Edition - $72,500 - SOLD!
Chevrolet was invited to pace the Indianapolis 500 for the second time in three years in 1969. To commemorate that honor, the Division produced a special Camaro model based on the Rally Sport / Super Sport combination in convertible form, the RPO Z11 option package. On the Pace Car Edition, the performance-oriented Super Sport package incorporated SS badging, simulated rear quarter vents with bright trim, heavy-duty suspension and power front disc braes, while the Rally Sport bundle added hideaway headlights flanking a special blacked-out front grille, bright-arch trim, bright accented tail lights and backup lights in the lower rear valence panel.
Only 3,675 Pace Car Editions were built, all finished in Dover White with Hugger Orange Z28-style stripes, matching dual pinstriping over the wheel arches, a white convertible top and an Orange Z87 Custom vinyl interior with houndstooth seat inserts, molded door panels, wood-grain instrument panel and steering wheel accents, glovebox light, bright pedal trim and special insulation. They were additionally distinguished by white body sills and tail panels — in contrast to the black accents on the Z22 Rally Sport models — Rally wheels with Goodyear raised white-letter Polyglas tires, bright exhaust tips and a special ducted cowl hood.
This 1969 Camaro Pace Car Edition boasts all these features and more in a beautiful presentation highlighted by high-quality paint over ultra-straight body panels. Optional extras include the L34 396/350HP big-block Mark IV engine, a Hurst-shifted Muncie 4-speed manual transmission, front and rear spoilers, center console, U17 Special Instrumentation, 140 MPH speedometer, in-dash clock, 7,000 RPM tachometer, power soft top and Soft Ray tinted glass.
